Hounslow Janahanda New Year Celebration/Festival
2012 Sinhala And Tamil New Year Celebrations will be held at Hounslow Lampton School on the 14th of April 2012.
It was the 7th Annul London Hounslow Sinhala & Tamil New Year Festival Organised by Hounslow London Janahada Foundation. With the dawn of peace, both Sinhala and Tamil communities within the borough of Hounslow got together to celebrate this national event.
In fact, for the first time in ages, the term Sinhala and Tamil New Year had its true meaning as both groups in London, Hounslow joined hands to rejoice the festival.
In this even the most integral part was the Traditional Avuruddu Games, to name a few, Kana Mutti Bindeema (a blindfolded person has to hit and break a clay pot), Tug-of-war, Aliyata aha thabima (blindfolded person marking the eye of an elephant), Banis Kema (eating a bun with hands tied behind), Blowing balloons, Indikattata Noola Dameema (Passing the Tread Through a Sewing Needle). But the most important and the beauty of it was, all of these games were played in very good spirit. Winning or losing didn’t matter, in fact most of them who took part in these games had a good laugh.
