Recognition Of Young Talents – UK Janahanda Foundation
Sri Lanka Janahanda Foundation took another positive step towards the children who performed at their Sri Lankan New Year Festival event on the 9th June 2012.
The Festival was held at Lampton School, Hounslow, London, on the Sinhala and Hindu New year day – 14th of April 2012.
This felicitation was graced by the Mayor of Hounslow Council, Pritam Grewal, Mrs Ajmer Grewal, the Leader of the council Cllr jagdish Sharma, Deputy Cllr Mindu Bains, Cllr Gopal Dillon, Cllr John Chatt, Cllr Dharsan Grewal together with the Members of the Janahanda Foundation.
The Indian Cultural Centre, Hounslow was the venue of this Felicitation function and it lasted till 10 P.M after starting the ceremony at 6 clock in the evening.
Children who exhibited their talents on the New Year Day received their gift vouchers and presents from the Chief Guest for the event Mayor Pritam Gewval, followed by the other councillors, and members of the Janahanda Committee.
Mr SriLal Dias, President of the committee had proposed to the Members to not only recognise these budding – young talents of the day but to offer encouragement and advice to perform anywhere while boosting moral confidence.
Patrons Miss Surya Samaraweera, Sunil B Perera, Duputy President Shiran Almeida, Asiri Bandara, Kamal and Kanesh, Manoja, Mahinda were amongst other members who participated.
Dinner was followed by soft music, while some members gifted with musical and singing ability chose to take part in making the occasion colourful with renderings of popular Sinhala and Hindi songs.
At the outset of the function Mrs Mihirani Marasinghe, Chandrika Perera, Kashmi
Disanayake, Panduka Wickramarathne, and Aruna Shantha, were felicitated for their music, dancing talents and training the children while Mrs Dhammika Dias was highly tributed for the catering facilities provided by her at all functions that were held by the Janahanda Foundation from the inception to date.
