SLFP National May Day rally at CMC grounds
Arrangements have been made by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) to hold International Workers’ Day at national level under the theme Rata Ekata (Country United).
“The national May Day event is to be held at the Colombo Municipal Council Grounds under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa”, SLFP General Secretary and Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena said.
The SLFP had appointed a national committee to organise May Day celebrations under the chairmanship of SLFP Treasurer and Youth Affairs and Skills Development Minister Dullas Alahapperuma.
The procession will begin at the Campbell Park, Borella at 11 am and proceed to the Colombo Municipal Council Grounds.
“We have made all arrangements to celebrate the May Day 2012 on a grand scale with the aim of felicitating the working class along with all unions and constituent political parties. We will also demonstrate the unity and brotherhood of our country to the whole world.”,the minister said.
